"Oblique Strategies" is a conceptual tool that was developed by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt as a means to assist artists in overcoming creative blocks through the utilization of lateral thinking. It consists of a deck of cards, each featuring a phrase that is intentionally vague or ambiguous. These phrases can be employed to intuitively solve problems by breaking free from conventional thinking patterns and approaching them from a fresh perspective.

This application endeavors to capture the essence of the original card deck by offering a digitalized experience, making it more easily accessible to a broader audience. It includes both the original edition as well as the newer decks, all presented in a sleek and minimalist style inspired by the cards' original design. The user interface has been purposefully designed to be simple and straightforward, aiming to promote and enhance creative and design thinking without introducing any unnecessary distractions.

In addition to these features, this application also offers convenience and functionality for users. For example, the iOS 14 home screen widget allows for the daily reading of new quotes without necessitating the actual opening of the application. Furthermore, the Apple Watch version operates independently of the user's iPhone, eliminating the need for its installation.

Moreover, this application also prioritizes inclusivity. With the VoiceOver feature, those with visual impairments can have the poignant Oblique Strategies phrases read aloud to them. By long pressing on the screen, users can retrieve the last sentence to be re-read. Additionally, for those seeking fresh inspiration, simply shaking the iPhone will generate a new sentence from within the collection.
